The Secret to Better, Safer Drivers

Making the Roads Safer and Better

With the growing number of cars on the road, so are the growing amount of distracted drivers on the road. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t any hope for modern day drivers. Below, we’ll talk about how auto insurance companies are taking an effort to make drivers on the road better and safer.

The Two Biggest Dangers on the Road

Distracted driving has become a serious problem in the United States. However, accompanying distracted driving is typically road rage, which is a growing issue in the country as well. Although distracted driving may be tempted to do, it’s important to pave our path to better, safer drivers on the road. To preserve this future, automobile insurance provider, Plymouth Rock Assurance Group has come up with a better way to reward good drivers. This program is called Road Rewards and gives a “pat on the back” to drivers who respect the rules of the road. The rewards program is accompanied by an app, powered by Cambridge Mobile Telematics, which monitor regular driving activities and calculates a score on how safe drivers are being on a biweekly basis. Drivers who are deemed safe can earn points and redeem them for certain rewards, such as free movie tickets, coffee gift cards, and other prized.

Road Rewards

According to Daniel Lieman, managing director of Advanced Analytics at Plymouth Rock, “Road Rewards is a free, opt-in program that has no impact on our insureds’ premiums. We’re not using it to underwrite or influence policies, but rather to encourage more conscious and safer driving among our clients.” “We’re trying to give our customers something that will add some value to their lives, while also trying to improve their driving behaviors. Everyone’s goals are completely aligned, which makes this a really exciting project,” he went on to state. Lieman also said, “At Plymouth Rock, we pride ourselves in delivering more than just insurance. We strive to provide the best value-added services and customer satisfaction, and we use data to figure out what our customers want. This new Road Rewards program fits nicely into our ‘more than just insurance’ mantra.”

The Results

According to recent research surveys of over 700 drivers, nearly 60 percent of drivers said that the rewards program would motivate them to drive safer. Although everyone should drive safely, no matter the reward, it’s important that in this generation, we do more to make driving safety a priority.

What You Can Do

Currently, the Road Rewards app is available for both Android and iOS. However, do keep in mind that it’s currently only available to Plymouth Rock customers in Massachusetts, although they do plan to expand to other states later in 2018.
